GM-Logo-S05General Management

Net Profit: Net Profit is the money left over after paying all costs. It’s calculated with this formula: Net profit = Sales revenue − Total costs.

Cost Of Goods Sold (COGS): This metric shows your direct costs of the goods sold per month. The formula for COGS = Beginning inventory + Purchases – Ending inventory

Return Of Investment (ROI): The most common profitability metric used for financial decisions. ROI = (Net Profit /Cost of Investment) x 100

Revenue by Payment Type: This important metric will enable you to measure your revenue depending on payment types which might be Visa, MasterCard, Debits, Cash, etc. Once you have understood your customer’s payment behavior, you may offer some advantages based on relative payment.

Gross Profit Margin: This metric shows your retail’s financial health. You can calculate it like this: Gross Profit Margin = (Sales Revenue-COGS)/Revenue.

To emphasize, you may add new metrics to your excel KPI Dashboard according to your particular needs.

Sales-Logo-S06Sales

Sales Per Square Foot: This Retail KPI metric measures how much amount of sales you produce for each square footage of sales space in your store (except fitting rooms or warehouses). The formula for this metric: Sales per Square Foot = Net Sales/Amount of sales space.

Sales by Product Category: The total number of sales by product category. To understand your product values, you should categorize your products to measure your sales amount.

Sales Per Employee: This metric will give you an important point of view about how efficiently utilizing your employees, specifically when it comes to restoring, firing, or hiring. To measure that use this formula: Sales Per Employee = Net sales/Number of employees.

Conversion Rate: This metric shows the percentage of how many visitors take the desired action per month: Conversion Rate = Number of sales / Total number of visitors.

Sales Cycle Length: The most famous way to monitor the sales cycle is to start from the client’s entering an end when the sale is closed. If you have a long sales cycle, you may reconsider your sales performance.

Furthermore, if you want to change these sales KPIs on the Excel dashboard, this template allows you to add and/or change the metrics.

Inventory-Logo-S07Inventory

Inventory Turnover: This metric also is known as stock turn and measures how many times the average inventory is “turned” or sold per month. It’s calculated with this formula: Stock Turn = Cost of goods sold/ average stock value.

Shrinkage Rate: Shrinkage is a loss of goods that isn’t caused by sales. Common causes; are shoplifting, employee theft, supplier failure, etc. Thus, to measure it use this formula: Shrinkage Rate = Ending inventory value – Physically counted inventory value

Sell-Through Rate: The percentage of units sold per month: Units sold / (Units sold + On-hand inventory).

Average Number of Employees: To successful store management, you should hire the optimum employee at right time. So, use this formula to calculate it: (The numbers of active employees at the beginning + The numbers of active employees at the end)/2

Turnover: If it’s high, it means your employment strategy has a problem. It shows the number or percentage of workers who leave the company. Turnover = (Employees separated/Average number of employees) x 100

  5. aaron

i purchase your retail KPI dashboard, thats great but im looking to change the name on some KPI and to change some for Product mix items, each time i hit the cell it come out the formula , how can i change it and how can i remove the logo for a presentation. thank you

    • Someka

Hello Aaron, thanks for reaching out!

      – To change the name of the KPIs we put, only you have to do is deleting the existing names from the CY Actual, CY Target, PY Actual tabs (which is blue). And you will see that, Cumulative Tabs, Dashboard and Charts will be changed accordingly. So you do not change anything from the Cumulative Tabs. These formulas are already fed by the tabs we mentioned as blue. But if you would like to add new KPI metrics, follow this steps:

      1. Type in your new KPI in CY Actual CY Target and PY Actual Tabs,
      2. Your new KPI will show up cumulative sections. Here you can copy the formulas we used the other KPI metrics and paste it for your new KPI metric.

As default, we use Average Calculation but If you want to use Summed Up quantities, you can copy and paste the INDEX formula from one of the criteria that use this method.

      – For removing logo, just check this explanation on how to do it in just a few steps: Can I remove your logo and insert mine?

Hope this clarified things up for you Raul. Otherwise please let us know all the questions you might have!
