GPA stands for Grade Point Average, and it is a widely used method of calculating the average marks or grades a student has taken. Although GPA and how it is calculated may differ from one country to another, or even from one state to another (in the USA), the majority of institutions use a system from 0 to 4 points, from 0 to 4.3 points, 40 to 100 points or 0 to 100 points. GPA Calculator Excel Template is designed to make the life of students a bit easier by helping them calculate their GPA.
GPA Calculator Excel Template Features:
This tool cover all four cases in order to give you maximum flexibility. For the 0 to 4 system, you can choose between single-letter marks and double-letter marks. Although the points are the same, the marking system might confuse you from one institution to another. For the 0 to 100 system, you can choose ranges of points to convert them into a 0 to 4 GPA.
The 40 to 100 system only calculates the marks, and then you need to consult specialized institutions to convert your scores (in case you plan to get your degrees approved in a country/state with a different system).
The GPA Calculator includes 3 parts, with each of them serving a specific purpose.
The Dashboard is designed to give you a minimalist yet meaningful view of your school stats. Here you will see your total GPA, the course in which you performed best, the course in which you performed worst, and the number of courses that you have had to retake.
You will also find a chart that shows the trend of your GPA during 8 semesters.
Settings & Calculator
In order to make things easier for you, we have automated the settings and made them selectable with a drop-down menu. You can choose the A+ grading system, the A system, the AA system, the 0-100 system or the 40-100 system.
Please note that this is the first step to efficiently using our template. In the same page, you can also use a simple calculator. You just need to insert the total amount of points and the total amount of credits, and it will give you the GPA.
But that is very basic, and you probably will want to calculate your weighted GPA based on the number of credits each course has. You can first add the courses, and then you add the grades and credits. GPA Calculator will calculate your grade based on the given data.
You can also use this tool to compare how your GPA will change if you score a certain grade, or to calculate if it is worth it to take an elective class.
The last page is where you add all your courses, grades and credits. This is sort of where you keep records of all marks you have taken. Although you can also use it to forecast your GPA if you insert grades in semesters you haven’t attended yet. It is important that you also add the old grade of a course if you have retaken it, so that the template does not calculate it twice. This page is like your transcript.
